Message from the President

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

Recently, we received reports of kidnapping attempts in Iloilo. Most of these attempts targeted students outside their school premises. With all these reports, it is best for us to be proactive in ensuring that this will not happen inside and outside our own school yard.

While ADI-SMCS management will try its best to intensify our security within the campus, your children might still be exposed to danger if left unsupervised by a trusted adult.

We would like to remind you to please take extra precautions especially during dismissal. Please instruct your wards to be extra careful in dealing with strangers who might be posing as an acquaintance, substitute 'sundo', survey interviewers, and the like.  Please immediately report to the nearest security officer within the vicinity in case you encounter suspicious interaction with a stranger inside and outside the school.

Corollary to this , i also received reports that some have not complied with the car pass policy. I would like to reiterate that the car pass should be visibly pasted on the car's windshield. Your full cooperation will help us make our campus safe and secure.

School President

260 Ilonggo teachers in WV ‘rights’ history in Ateneo-sponsored #MindaNOW seminar

“LET US right Mindanao’s history,” thus challenged by anthropologist Fr. Albert Alejo, SJ before scores of social studies and values education teachers coming from 12 DepEd divisions of Region VI in the recently concluded #MindaNOW seminar-workshop held October 1 at the Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School (AdI-SMCS) Multipurpose Room in San Rafael, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

“I urge all the Ilonggo teachers to take bolder steps to inspire our students to further understand the history, culture, beauty, and context of Mindanao,” Fr. Alejo told the 260 teacher-participants, adding, “there are almost a million Ilonggos who are now happily residing in Mindanao plus the fact that the ‘Promise Land’ also continues to affect the socio-economic, environmental, and political landscape of the country—this speaks of the extent of our responsibility to educate our younger Ilonggos to correctly appreciate Mindanao.”

Teacher Training-workshop on "Righting Mindanao's History" Set on October

In the light of ongoing peace talks in Mindanao and the disturbing religious fanaticism in the Middle East, Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School is organizing #MindaNOW: Righting Mindanao’s History – A Regional Teachers’ Training-Workshop set on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the AdI-SMCS School Gymnasium.

This partly-subsidized teachers’ training-workshop targets Social Studies and Values Education (or Christian Life Education) teachers in both high school and grade school. It aims to:

AdI HS begins "Road Trip"

To go on a "road trip" is to journey or to travel by land. The Atenean concept of road trip, however, goes beyond the ordinary.

ROAD TRIP is the word used by Ateneans for their formation program facilitated by the CMSI which consists of an exposure trip/ immersion to a marginalized sector and a retreat component. When students start their immersion, they enter as well into a retreat experience, the two being closely integrated in one program.

Atenean Wizards Strike Again

Going against many mathematicians all over the world, the Ignatian spirit never left three Ateneans as they garnered high ranks and the respect of the other competitors in various math contests.

Alexis Griff S. Genovatin, a third grader from the Ogilvie class joined head-on in The Search for King of Math and Pan Pacific Math Competition, where she had Merit Awards for both events held in Hong Kong last June 28 to July 1.
