TWO INTERNATIONALLY - acclaimed independent film makers are to personally facilitate a seminar-workshop on “Intelligent Film Viewing” on Saturday, August 16, in Ateneo de Iloilo-SMCS in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, with select high school Filipino teachers from Iloilo and Guimaras.
This partly-subsidized event is initiated by Ateneo de Iloilo-SMCS High School through its president Fr. Joseph Y. Haw, SJ, himself a former Filipino teacher. It is in line with the celebration of the Buwan ng Wika with the theme: “Filipino: Wika ng Pagkakaisa”.
The “Matalinong Panonood ng Pelikula” seminar-workshop aims to respond to the need of teachers to familiarize themselves with “critical film viewing”—the latest basic skill required in the K-12 curriculum; equip teachers with experiences and approaches necessary to enhance the probing and critical thinking skills of the students through viewing independent (indie) films; and improve the capacity of teachers in relating social issues to students’ lives through movie reviews.
