HS has 2 associate principals

IN ORDER to give focus on the relatively distinct thrusts of the Junior High School (JHS) and the newly-installed Senior High School (SHS), the administration has assigned two associate principals for the job.

From the circular inked by school president Fr. Joseph Haw, SJ, Dr. Herman Lagon is now assigned to take charge with the SHS, leaving behind his former position as associate principal for JHS to former mathematics teacher Michel Guevara. Both will be teaming up with high school principal Rosario Dordas to rally the HS Department.

Apparently, the decision of Fr. Haw, in consultation with the different stakeholders of the school, was a response to the need of making sure that the quality of services to be rendered to students is relentlessly cultivated in both the JHS and SHS programs.

Fr. Jhaw said: “I’m quite excited about the newly-formed partnership. I think Ma’am Sarry (Dordas) and Sir H (Lagon) did well in their (previous) administration. And I expect a better performance with the addition of Sir Mike (Guevara).”

What is education to you?

It is more than an end in itself.

This is how I describe in gist what education is to me. When I started teaching 15 years ago, I taught in the belief that acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills, and values is enough. Years later, I realized that it isn't.

A Jesuit priest once said, "education is forming men and women for others." To me, his words wereelegantly phrased. For what is education without a purpose or meaning? What is education if it is not for and with others?

The pursuit for intellectual development to the full measure of God-given talents rightly remains vital. However, if this simply means to amass a store of information or preparation for a profession, then it isn't enough. It isn't worth it in the light of genuine social justice and moral transformation.

Batch representative candidates face-off in rally

TUESDAY- Freshmen students gathered in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) for the two-candidate Grade Seven Representative Rally last June 28, spearheaded by the Student Commision on Elections (SCOMEL).

Eryl Ann Provido of  7-Hope and Annika Angela Mei Tamayo of 7-Courage took their seats, voiced out their speeches, and answered the questions addressed by the Student Council and by the Grade Seven students themselves, in preparation for the freshmen representative elections that will be held tomorrow, June 30.

“The first one is much like President Duterte-- decisive, and promises discipline in her grade level, while the second one oozes of confidence and takes value in her experiences as the last Student Council Junior President of AdI-SMCS. They are both very qualified in their own ways,” said Uriel Bolivar, the SCOMEL Chairman for the past two school years.

Similar to last year’s election for Student Council school year 2016-2017, the election for the Grade Seven Representatives will also be automated. The voting process will be held in Computer Labs one and two, after dismissal.
